Being an Advocate Matters!
Governor Kate Brown Vetoes HB3355
HB 3355 was designed to authorize licensed clinical psychologists to prescribe psychiatric medications. This bill was passed by both the House and Senate because of the huge access issues to mental and behavioral health treatment we all face in Oregon. While these access issues are huge, a group of advocates, including OFSN believe that there were not enough provisions in the bill to ensure safe prescribing and oversight for children, youth as well as seniors and adults experiencing serious mental health challenges. We applaud Governor Brown for taking this important stance, and will work hard to advocate for ways to improve access.
