OFSN Family Navigator Logo

OFSN is excited to introduce Family Navigators,
a collaborative project with the State of Oregon,
Department of Human Services, Addictions & Mental Health Division.

A Family Navigator empowers families caring for children with behavioral, mental health, and other challenges by providing individualized, strength-based support, education, coaching, information and resource referrals.  Parents and primary caregivers who have experience navigating multiple child-serving agencies provide peer support.  Family Navigators must meet the qualification requirements to be a QMHA (Qualified Mental Health Associate).

Family Navigators are knowledgeable about:

  • Navigating Oregon child-serving agencies, programs and community partners
  • Empowering families and caregivers to identify and access services and supports for children and their familiees
  • Partnering with professionals to optimize family success
  • Lifespan services and supports from early childhood through the transition to adulthood
  • Helping families create and maintain teams for their children

"We needed help fast and didn't know where to look. Our Family Navigator knew just where to go, who to talk to, and how we could access the afterhours care we needed to avoid hospitalization for our child in crisis."   - Parent
